Jimmy Buffett in Annapolis Today, Got Parking Ticket
Vowed “Dark Song of Revenge” About City
Annapolis (SPP) – Jimmy Buffett was in Annapolis today to enjoy some of the local food and to watch the Lights Parade. But after he received a parking ticket this afternoon, he angrily left town.
“I couldn’t find any parking on Main Street,” Buffett complained, “so I had to park in one of the nearby neighborhoods. I saw the sign that said I could only park for two hours, so after sitting at O’Brien’s eating oysters and drinking beer this morning, I went and moved my car a street over. I did what I was supposed to do. I went back downtown and got some lobster rolls at Mason’s and did some shopping and less than two hours later I come back and found some meter maid writing me a ticket!”
Buffett explained that he approached the traffic officer and informed her he was under two hours, but she responded by saying that the two hour limit applied to the whole parking zone and that just moving his car a street over didn’t count.
“That’s some bullshit right there. Those signs are confusing,” Buffett responded.
His argument did not convince the traffic officer to stop writing the ticket.
“I mean, I’ve been in a lot of cities with a lot of crazy parking laws, but Annapolis is just the worst. Seems like almost every time I come here I get a parking ticket and this last one, with this zone bullshit is just too much,” Buffett told the Post.
Buffett indicated that he cussed out the traffic officer and drove out of town. He said he did not want to stay for the Lights Parade because he was so infuriated. “I will never come back,” Buffett stated.
The singer-songwriter indicated that he planned to seek revenge on Annapolis through music. “You know, I am best known for writing upbeat songs that make people happy. I’ve never tried writing an angry deep dark song of revenge before, but this last parking ticket has really inspired me. I’m not exactly sure how it is going to go, but when I’m finished, the world will know about the parking situation in Annapolis and my hatred for that city. It’s going to be ugly.”
